Pressure Valves in Detail

In this category, you will find two essential valve types for hydraulic circuits: The classic relief valve for protection and the load holding valve for controlling cylinder movements.

1. Pressure Relief Valves

The pressure relief valve is the life insurance of your hydraulic system. It opens when a set maximum pressure is reached and drains the oil to the tank.

Series VMP / VMPL / VMPP: These direct-acting valves from Marchesini are designed for heavy-duty use.
The Steel Advantage: Unlike cheap aluminum valves, the housings of this series are made of zinc-plated steel. This allows for higher pressures (up to 350 bar) and makes them resistant to pressure peaks.

2. Counterbalance Valves & Load Holding Valves

A counterbalance valve (also known as overcenter valve or load holding valve) prevents hydraulic cylinders from dropping uncontrollably or "running ahead" under load (e.g., in cranes or winches).

Function: The valve holds the load leak-free ("load holding function") and only opens when a corresponding pilot pressure is applied ("lowering control").
Series VBCD: Available as single-acting (for one direction of movement) or double-acting.
Mounting Tip (Banjo Bolt): For particularly tight spaces, versions with an extended banjo bolt are available in our offer. These can be mounted directly onto the cylinder port – saving space and eliminating extra piping.
